With the result of this 2006 Lakers/ Suns playoff debacle (where the Lakers blew a 3-1 lead) notwithstanding, Philip owns D’Antoni forever and ever because of the exchange in this video.
With that being said I’m not sure how this whole D’Antoni thing is gonna work out. They can’t run that 7 seconds or less chaos with this old of a team. It looks like Pau is the odd man out and will be traded at some point for bench help or a knockdown shooter. If he’s not traded then we’d be rolling the dice with one of the worst 2nd units in the league. If we had 2006-2007 Kobe and Nash, that would be fine but we don’t.
I heard something about trading Pau to Atlanta for Josh Smith, which is intriguing but I just can’t see it happening.
The game tomorrow against the Spurs will be really interesting even though D’Antoni won’t be acting coach yet.
