This isn’t news or anything but Netflix is woefully obsolete. I’m canceling my membership today (for the 3rd and final time). How do you have portions of a series like Breaking Bad or Arrested Development available? How do you completely ignore and not provide classic shows like The Wire and the Sopranos? Yea I know HBO wants to capitalize on DVD box set sales but if you’re a Netflix exec you should be like “Hey wait a minute let’s take a page out of Verizon and to a lesser extent Sprint’s playbook. If a company offers a great product that everyone will buy(iPhone), or watch in this case and it will greatly increase the chances that our subscriber base will grow because of it, why don’t we pay through the nose in subsidies now and watch our subscriber base quadruple? We’re losing 150k+ customers a month and we aren’t providing people with access to things they actually want to watch.” Why the fuck would anyone pay when they can watch that shit in its entirety for free somewhere else?
They really messed up about a year ago with all that pricing fuckery. They thought they were giving their customers more options but we don’t necessarily like more options when they amount to a bad or more expensive deal. Sending people DVD’s in the mail and forcing them to send them back in order to receive more DVD’s in the mail is tantamount to buying a Playboy in the face of all of the glorious FREE STREAMING PORN that’s out there today.
Netflix almost completely cornered the market when they put Blockbuster and other old school video rental stores out of business for good. Netflix made its way onto your Xbox, PS3, Android, iPhone, iPad etc seamlessly and then they completely blew it 1984 Magic Johnson style (if you don’t give a fuck about basketball that basically means that you were at the top of your game, slaying the competition, and then at the most critical moment you shat your pants in front of the entire world) by being cheap and trying to nickle and dime you under the guise of providing you with more flexibility and options.
Somebody is gonna come up with a brilliant idea to put Netflix to sleep forever in the very near future. Real niggas bounce back like Michael Vick, money grubbing companies run by people still living in 2007 don’t. Trap or die 2012.
